The Fiery Gizzard South trailhead is best known for Foster Falls, the tallest waterfall in South Cumberland State Park. Foster Falls is a spectacular 60-foot waterfall plunging into a deep pool. Mountain laurel, azaleas, and hemlocks growing above the falls, along the sandstone overlook, and in the gorge below add to the beauty of this area. An easy hike will take you to the top of the falls.
At this trailhead, you can also access the Foster Falls and Father Adamz campgrounds, the southern end of the famed 13-mile-long Fiery Gizzard Trail, and the Foster Falls Rock Climbing area.
These are driving directions from the South Cumberland State Park Visitor Center: The entrance to Foster Falls is about 7.5 miles south of Tracy City on US 41, on your right, marked with a large brown park sign.
