Sewanee Natural Bridge is an ancient sandstone arch, carved by wind and water from a section of sandstone bluff-line that had broken away from the main cliff-face. It is an easy 0.2 mile walk from the parking area to the top of the arch; a bit more difficult if you want to continue on and explore down below the formation.
These are driving directions from the South Cumberland State Park Visitor Center: Take US 41 west through Monteagle and Sewanee, then left on TN Hwy 56 at the large brown park sign. Follow Hwy 56 about 2 miles, then turn left at Natural Bridge Road (marked with a small brown park sign) and follow about one-half mile. The Natural Bridge parking area is on your left, just before the large stone columns which flank a private driveway. Please do not intrude on the adjoining driveways or properties. Thank you!
